Dr Ahmed Talks about
Dr Irfan Ahmed is a General Urologist with a special interest in the diagnosis and surgical management of urological cancers.
He has been performing radical surgery for prostate and bladder cancer with urinary reconstruction since 2008. He has performed nearly two hundred cases of Radical Cystectomy & urinary diversion with gratifying results.
He obtained a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, UK and completed urology training in the UK where he mainly remained associated with Greenwich University Hospital, London. Later, he worked as an associate consultant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH) Riyadh Saudi Arabia. In Pakistan, he served at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMT) Lahore as a senior consultant urologist and cancer surgeon.
Both KFSH and SKMT serve as tertiary referral centres for cancer treatment catering for early as well as advanced cases of kidney, bladder, prostate, and testes cancers.
Currently, he is working as Medical Director at Horizon Hospital. Along with administrative responsibilities, he continues to pursue a career as a urological and cancer surgeon. Along with two other urologists Prof Zafar ul Ahsan and Dr Faisal Zaeem he has developed a team called ACE Urology Associates. Its main objective is undertaking the treatment of difficult and complex cases.
