What is Pulmonology?
The speciality of Pulmonology deals with diagnosing and treating diseases of the respiratory tract. It is related to intensive care medicine. Also called respiratory or chest medicine. Pulmonologists are physicians who commonly evaluate and treat diseases like obstructive airway diseases, chest infections, including specific infections like tuberculosis and sarcoidosis. They also deal with pulmonary hypertension and occupational lung diseases as well as medical aspects of lung cancer.

Common tests which a pulmonologist do to evaluate the underlying disease are:
Spirometry. This is the simplest and most common lung test. You breathe in and out as hard as you can through a tube, and your doctor measures how much air goes in and out of your lungs.
