About Medical Oncology and Oncologist

Medical oncologists are doctors who are trained in diagnosing and treating cancer using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy. A medical oncologist along with many other in the team often takes the lead role as primary physician for cancer patients.

Cancer Treatment

Cancer is usually a complex disease and often requires a multidisciplinary approach. Most cancers today have standardized international guidelines for treatment, but still, all patients should be assessed by a team of doctors who are involved in the treatment so that a personalized treatment plan for each individual patient can be drafted. As many cancers require more than one modality for treatment, they benefit from such an approach where the whole treatment plan is laid at the beginning.
